TBILISI GEORGIA

Tbilisi – A City Full of Life
Nestled along the banks of the Mtkvari River and surrounded by hills, Tbilisi has for centuries served as an important hub on the Silk Road. Its strategic location connected merchants, travellers and cultures from Europe and Asia.
Today, the city beautifully combines ancient churches, colourful wooden balconies, modern architecture and lively streets. Every walk through Tbilisi offers a unique blend of history, culture and warm Georgian hospitality.
Tbilisi is where history and modern life meet beautifully.
STUNNING HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, popularly known as Sameba Cathedral, was one of the most impressive and peaceful places we visited in Tbilisi. Standing majestically on Elia Hill with its grand golden dome overlooking the city, the cathedral symbolizes the revival of Georgian Orthodox Christianity after the Soviet era and has become one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks. Personally, I was deeply moved by its elegant architecture, serene interiors, and the calm spiritual atmosphere that surrounds the entire complex, making it both visually stunning and emotionally memorable.

DAY TRIP FROM TBILISI TO THE GEORGIAN MILITARY ROAD
A day trip from Tbilisi along the historic Georgian Military Road is one of the most scenic journeys in the Caucasus. This ancient mountain route, once linked to branches of the Silk Route, passes through breathtaking landscapes of rivers, valleys, and snow-capped peaks. Along the way, we visited the beautiful Ananuri Fortress, the Gudauri mountain region, and the spectacular Gergeti Trinity Church set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kazbek.

Georgian Military Road
Best Day Trip from Tbilisi
Among all the day trips from Tbilisi, the Georgian Military Road was undoubtedly the most spectacular experience for us. It was an extremely long day — nearly 14 hours on the road — and by the time we returned, we were completely exhausted. Yet, every hour of the journey felt worthwhile.
The drive through the Caucasus Mountains, deep valleys, winding roads, ancient fortresses and picture-perfect landscapes was simply unforgettable. The waters of the Jinvali Reservoir and the snow-covered peaks near Kazbegi were truly breathtaking. At times we just sat quietly, admiring the raw beauty unfolding outside the window. Tiring as it was, this trip became one of the highlights of our journey through Georgia.

Wine Region – Sighnaghi
A Charming Town
Our day trip from Tbilisi to the famous wine region of Kakheti turned out to be one of the most relaxing and beautiful experiences of our journey through Georgia. As we drove through the peaceful countryside lined with vineyards and rolling hills, the pace of life seemed to slow down completely. The highlight of the trip was the charming little town of Sighnaghi, with its cobbled streets, colourful balconies, and breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley stretching towards the Caucasus Mountains. Even for non-drinkers, the region has a magical atmosphere that is hard to describe. Visiting the local wineries, tasting Georgia’s famous wines, and experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the local people made the entire day truly memorable.

CHRONICLE OF GEORGIA
Perched on a hill overlooking the Tbilisi Sea, the Chronicle of Georgia was one of the most impressive places we visited in Tbilisi. The massive stone pillars and intricate carvings create a dramatic and almost surreal atmosphere.
Designed by Zurab Tsereteli, the monument beautifully portrays Georgian history, legendary rulers, and scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. The scale of the complex and the panoramic views over the city made the visit truly unforgettable.

Khachapuri
Boat Shaped Georgian Cheese Bread
The main dish on the wooden platter is a variant of Adjaruli Khachapuri, a famous boat-shaped Georgian cheese bread. This particular variation features a vegetarian green filling composed of spinach, fresh herbs, and melted cheeses (such as mozzarella, feta, or traditional Georgian cheese).

“Be careful with the famous Georgian Khachapuri — I had an entire one topped with raw egg yolk and could barely walk back to the hotel afterward! Loaded with rich Georgian cheese, it is delicious but incredibly filling.”
